"Controversy" by VII Mixtape Review

On February  7th  an all female group by the name of  VII  (which consist of (Laynie X, M. Ashanti, Bang Bang, Marie Lynn, Hot Latin Mickey &Adonica) released their first mixtape, Titled  "Controversy" with seven tracks. When first tuning into the mixtape my first thoughts were this is about to be some powerful shit. The more I listen the more I agreed with my original thoughts. Although overall the mixtape was pretty good there were somethings that kind took me by surprise. The Ladies Touch base on relationship issues, sisterhood, self empowerment and the things that go happen on Facebook. These ladies have powerful, motivating , dope and clever lyrics but their delivery is weak. I wish the energy level was higher and the quality of the way each lady said their verse sounded as if they really meant what they were talking about, they have too strong of a message to not sound as if they meant it. The best tracks on the mixtape are "Hit It" & "Can You Handle It". "Hit It" is an uptempo dance kind of song that is very clever, it has a lot of energy in it and its altogether a really fun song! While "Can You Handle It" is a more of a serious songs that talks about the struggles and complications of life showing that these ladies are motivated and willing to do whatever it takes to make it in whatever it is they put their minds to. Overall I give this mixtape a B-.  I believe it they step their delivery and energy up that without doubt these ladies will go far, they have too much to say and are too motivated not to! If you haven't heard "Controversy"  yet??? Check it out for yourself!!!
